Here’s the invite: 

Permanent Wave is a network of feminist artists and activists. Currently, we have chapters in New York, Philadelphia and Boston, but we would like to have chapters everywhere! I (Zoë) want to start a group here in the Bay Area. Our chapter can be focused on music (like existing ones) or other things entirely- it’s up to us, but we need to have a meeting so that anyone who would like to be involved can have input! 

The current Permanent Wave manifesto is as follows (it doesn’t have to be ours, but just to give you an idea of what existing chapters are about):

“We want to challenge gender inequality as it manifests itself in art, politics, and our personal lives, and we want you to join. We believe that women should see each other as collaborators and inspirations, not rivals. We want to continue the feminist movement that began generations ago by creating a revolutionary arts movement that’s relevant to women, queer, and trans people today.”

This meeting is just a preliminary one; once we figure out who would like to commit to regular participation we’ll decide on a day of the week that works best for everyone. Please invite any friends in the area who you think would like to hang out with us! We are an inclusive, super-awesome group ready to spread the feminist agenda of giving sunshine and kittens to everyone. Just check yo privilege(s) at the door. Some possibilites about what the group can do:

* Organize shows featuring female/mostly-female bands
* Host benefits & bake sales for local women’s organizations
* Wheatpaste cool feminist stuff around the city
* Make cookies 
* Whatever you think we should do!

Note: The current location (Zoë & Nat’s apartment) is not wheelchair accessible, which is crappy and something we would like to be different. If this is an issue for you, please let us know and we’ll figure out how to make sure you can get here until we find a better space.
